Subject: Unusual headstone From: jsmith Date: October 12, 1998
I am seeking information on a lowcountry headstone. Located in a
traditional black cemetery, this simple, carved headstone bears the
inscription:
6394
_.F. SWEET
and nothing else. This stone faces the river (North) while all others
face away (South). The name only was badly chipped away while none of
the other stones in this cemetery were so damaged. I have talked with
every one imaginable regarding the identity of this stone and why the
number. Can anyone help?
