Subject: USABLE SUBJECT LINES From: Jmicro Date: January 31, 1998 Hey folks, Lets think about this subject for a minute. Over the last week I must have read or blown away several dozens of messages with the subject "SURNAME" or "MY SURNAME." I belong to 6 forums and get a large number of messages every day. As a result, I (and most of us I am sure) need to know what the subject is before I open the message. For instance there is no use in me opening a message about the Dinwiddle family in Berkley county or the Waithe's of Sampson county. I can contribute nothing to the sender and the message will contribute nothing to my research. Suggestion: Send one family name per message, the title should start with the surname in Caps and be followed by the county and hopefully the century. Example: BUMFIDDLER, Horry Co, 1700-1800 Now how many of you would open that message. You would not need to, you know up front that you cannot help and that it cannot help you. These forums contain some of the nicest folks I ever "spoke" to, BUT we can enhance our search and speed up everyone's research by thinking when we write. Thanks for "listening" to my gripe.
