THOMAS SEXTON ALIAS THOMAS GALLION

Thomas Gallion was born about 1794, VA. On 1 September 1813 he enlisted in Norfolk,

Virginia in the service of Capt. Lewis Hale's Company, 128th Regiment Virginia Militia. He

was discharged March 1814.

On 1 July 1820 Thomas married under the surname of GALLION to Ruth Watson in Floyd

County, Kentucky. He married 2nd Armanda McQuire.

It was not until January 1845 that the Secretary of State, Commonwealth of Kentucky approved

an act cited as Chapter 45 section 2. stating "... that the name of Thomas Sexton of Carter

County be and the same is hereby changed to Thomas Gallion." In 1851 he received a bounty

land warrant of 80 acres. He appears on the Carter County, Kentucky census for 1850 along

with his family.

In 1860 Thomas received fees for acting as coroner in Carter County, Ky as well.

In 1871 his application for surviving soldier pension shows him living on Williams Creek, Carter

County. T. Gallion also appears near Rush, on an 1854 proposed boundary map of Carter

County on Williams Creek. Jeremiah Biggs attested to this document.
