BATH NIGHT
Saturday was always bath night at our house. We
were Mom and Dad and six kids in a three-room house, but that's another
story. As soon as supper dishes were cleared the old tin tub was set on
two chairs and water taken from the boiler on the side of the woodstove.
The first to bathe was the baby. Then we would all get our turn according
to age with a warm pot of water added with each child--I was fourth in
line.
My oldest brother Billy was the luckiest because
he got to play in the tub long after we were tucked into bed.
