New Teen AgeGroup Center Opens on Weber Avenue
Four hundred and fifty young people attended the opening of Blu-Haven, the newly organized teenage recreational center, in the Roberts hall on Weber Avenue Saturday evening. Rev. Armando c. Russo, curate at St Anthony's Church, extended a welcome to those present, explaining the rules of the center and stressing the fact that these rules must be adhered to.
He also urged the young people to invite their parents to attend the center's functions, and pointed out that the center is open to all young people of high school age regardless of race, color or creed. Each youngster was given a slip of paper which was marked with the time of his or her arrival and departure from the center, and it is planned to continue this practice every week.
In one corner of the hall a Blessed Virgin shrine was decorated in blue and white and from other sections of the room colored lights focused on a revolving crystal ball suspended from the ceiling .
Refresments were sold and dancing was enjoyed, with music furnished by Harold Dunton's orchestra. Next Saturday the music will be by the same orchestra , with intermittent recordings on the nickelodeon.
