
Baptist Camp Opens at Lake Ashmere,Hinsdale.....FOR TWO WEEKS............Total Number at Camp is 38...Group to Return July 22....Girls Take Over Site July 25.
Twenty-six boys left this morning for two weeks at Camp Ashmere, the camp at Hindsdale sponsored by the First Baptist Church of this city. The boys and their leaders gathered at the church this morning for transportation to the camp.When they have had their two weeks of camping a group of girls will go to the camp.Row One:Unknown,Bill Hodgson, Donald Putnam.....all others unknown....The boys from this city who left today are as follows: Jack White, William Hodgson,Frederick Osborne,Stanley Boshoff, Frederick Boshoff,Albert Fountain, Gordon Hermon,Willaim Mausert, Howard Goodermote,Raymond Collier,Edwin Jackson, Thomas Hurlburt Jr.,Donald Lapine,Donald Putnam,Frederick Calkins,David Nassif,Wallace Kenyon, Ralph Kenyon,Robert Lapan,Stanley Wilson,Donald Moors,William Barcomb,Edwin Myers and James McLean.Also in the group was Leon E. Storms of Oriente,Cuba who is visiting in this city.
The boys will retirn from Camp Ashmere Saturday, July 22. Parents are invited to visit the camp and especially to attend the evening campfire sessions. The feature of the camping season this year will be the dedication next Sunday afternoon at 3:30 O'clock of several new cabins at the camp. The dedication ceremonies have been arranged by the Clare class of the Baptist church.
In addition to the North Adams boys who will be at the camp several boys from other communities are attending this year. Among them are Frederic Marchegiani of Stamford,Vt.,Jackie Callahan and Paul W. Langer of Adams and boys from Amherst,Holyoke,Springfield, Needham and Manchester,Ct. The total number of boys in camp is 38.
