Mr. Willie Lloyd Silvers, 59, of Tennga, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Floyd Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Silvers; granddaughter, Kayla C. Silvers, and grandson, Michael Ryan Silvers.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Silvers of Tennga; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Tonya Silvers of Centre, Ala., Michael and Brandie Silvers of Tennga; daughters and son-in-law, Jenny Silvers of Chatsworth, April and Jeremy Young of Tennga; parents, Corena E. Lackey of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Louie and Judy Silvers of Cohutta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Dennis Sutton of Cave Spring, Debbie and Lamar Middlebrooks of Dalton; grandchildren, Jessica M. Agan, Douglas W. Agan Jr., Taylor S. Silvers, Jadin M. Silvers, Connor Elias Silvers; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services and burial, with full military honors, are today at 3 p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Tennga with the the Rev. Charles Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 1-2:15 p.m.
Peeples Funeral Home and Crematory of Chatsworth is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Willie Lloyd Silvers.

RUBENA CHILDERS SILVER
Rubena Childers Silver, 78, of Candler, NC passed away Friday, July 1, at her home.
Born in Canton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Connie Penland Childers. Mrs. Silver spent all of her adult life in Candler, where she was a homemaker and mother. For many years, she was active in the United Methodist Women, and served as President of the Asheville District. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 32 years, Richard J. Silver; two daughters, Cathey Rhodarmer Turbyfill (Philip) of Candler, Andrea Rhodarmer Cody (Ed) of Asheville, and one son, Alan Rhodarmer (Marlene), of Weaverville. Also surviving are two brothers, Frank Childers (Lois) of Merritt Island, FL, Harold Childers (Felma) of Canton, NC, and two sisters, Mary Jo Harris of Candler, NC, and Martha Stiles of Clyde, NC, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Childers and Ralph Childers.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 30, at Trinity UMC in West Asheville with Rev. Rodney Hagans officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary immediately before the service, at 10 a.m.

FRED F. SILVERS

Asheville ~ Fred F. Silvers, 83, of Asheville passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at J.V. Keever Solace Center.
He was born in Yancey County and was an avid fisherman. He was a truck driver for Carolina Freight Company for 27 years and was a veteran of the US Army.
Mr. Silvers is survived by four sons, Gary Silvers and Mark Silvers, and adopted sons, Joe Hyder and wife, Becky and Dale Hyder all of Asheville; his longtime companion, Linda Sexton of Weaverville; two brothers, Ray Silvers and Herman Silvers, both of Jupiter; one sister, Annie Mae Silvers of Jupiter; two grandchildren, Heath Silvers and Meagan Silvers; one great-granddaughter, Jayla Silvers.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday at the VA Cemetery, Black Mountain, with military honors. The Rev. Cecle Roberson of Mt. Zion Baptist Church will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:30 P.M., prior to the service, at Groce Funeral Home, 856 Tunnel Road. The family will be at 75 Davidson Road in Oakley Thursday evening and Friday after the service.

HARRY MARTIN SILVERS
Harry
Martin Silvers, 75, of Candler, died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Mission Hospitals
after a brief illness.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Luther H. and Iva Presnell Silvers. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mattie Buckner Silvers, who died in 2000 and by five siblings. A US Army veteran, he retired from Milkco, Inc., following 37 years of service. He was a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Silvers is survived by his daughters, Donna S. Frazee and husband Darrel, of Candler, and Linda S. Puckett and husband Bill, also of Candler; and granddaughter, Courtney E. Puckett, of Candler.
His family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
There will be a private burial on Monday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery.

Junior Silver, 77, of Pensacola, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday,
September 1, 2010, at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the
late Champ and Bonnie Storie Silver. He was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Diane Beaver; a son, Steve Ledford; and, his mother-in-law, Irene
Hyatt. Junior served 16 years in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War Veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Hyatt Silver; a daughter, Judy Ledford of Spruce Pine; sons, Charles Ledford and wife, Carol, of Monticello, Ga., David Ledford and wife, Tammy, of Erwin, Tenn., Dean Ledford and wife, Paula, and Gary Ledford and wife, Teresa; daughter-in-law, Kathy Ledford; son-in-law, Gerald Beaver; a sister, Jean Allen; brothers, Jerry Silver and wife, Tish, all of Burnsville, and Dennis Silver of Marion; 17 grandchildren; and, 17 greatgrandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Pensacola Free Will Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Norman Lovelace and David Ledford will officiate. Burial will follow in the Circle of Faith Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home, where the body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

Myra Lee Ray Silver, 94, of the Pleasant Gap community, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Barney and Samantha Thomas Buchanan and the wife of John Biss Ray who died in 1972 and Albert Silver who died in 2002. She was a life-long member, Sunday School teacher and choir member of Pleasant Gap Baptist Church. She successfully owned and operated Myra’s Beauty Salon for many years.
Surviving are her son: Terrill Ray of Pleasant Gap; a daughter: Berlean Ray Lawhern of Burnsville; 4 grandchildren: Mitzie Weatherly and husband, Joe, of Greensboro, Eric Lawhern and wife, Michele, and Teresa Ray Bryant of Burnsville and April Woody and husband, Tim, of Pleasant Gap; 8 great grandchildren: Lauren Elizabeth and Mary Margaret Weatherly, Grace Victoria and Kathryn Faith Lawhern, Bridget Hope and Charles Barron Bryant and Sabrena Danielle and Devin Taylor Woody.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Grindstaff will officiate. Burial will be in the Fred Young Cemetery at Pleasant Gap.

Rothie Silvers, 78, of Lickskillet Road, went home to be with the
Lord Friday, February 25, 2011, in the McDowell Hospital. A native of Yancey County he was a son of
the late Carl and Etta Silvers. He was
the husband of Frances Briggs Silvers who died March 11, 2010. He was also preceded in death by 2
sons: David and Randy Silvers; a
daughter: Suzanne Boone; and, a
granddaughter: Jessica Silver. Rothie was a US Army Veteran and a retired
employee of the NC Department of Corrections.
Surviving are a son: Michael Silvers and wife, Peggy, of Marion; 2 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and, a sister: Ruth McIntosh of Burnsville.
Funeral services will be held at 3PM Sunday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral home. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery at Bald Creek.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

with the Lord Thursday, March 11, 2010 at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Robert
and Thelma Briggs. She was also

Suzanne Boone and a granddaughter:
Jessica Silvers.
Surviving are her husband, Rothie Silvers; a son: Michael Silvers and wife, Peggy, of Marion; 2 grandchildren: Robbie Silvers and Melissa Mitchell and 4 great-grandchildren.

Juanita Silvers Goldsmith, 82, of Burnsville, formerly of Ellicott City, MD, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Mountain Manor Assisted Living. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Sherdain and Chetty Higgins Silvers and wife of the late Fred Goldsmith, Jr. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Sherline Silvers and Mary Earlina Royal.
Surviving are her children: Susan J. Hall of Ellicott City, MD, Mevelyn L. Low of Burnsville, Fred S. Goldsmith, III, and wife, Della, of Ellicott City; 9 grandchildren: Tressa, Chris, Melissa, Megan, Michelle “Booter”, Maribeth, Joshua, Erica and James “Jay”; 4 great grandchildren: Keaton and Kason Hall and Maverick and Maxton Gilley; 2 sisters: Loucille Edwards of Burnsville and Mary Ann Sparks of Waynesville; 4 brothers: R. L. Silvers and Reece Silvers of Burnsville, Leslie Silvers of Weaverville and Glen Silvers of Elkton, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Williams will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD.
