WOOSTER - Arthur E. Nolletti Sr., 84, of Wooster, passed away at Wooster Community Hospital, Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.

The son of Carlo and Nicolina (Tomassetti) Nolletti, Arthur was born on Nov. 10, 1919, the fourth of 16 brothers and sisters in Wayne County’s largest family.

A veteran of World War II, he served as a radar crewman in the Army and worked as a commissary man with the Pennsylvania Railroad where he had charge of 110 workmen. A lifelong resident of Wooster, he was an employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Soy Processing Company, and later the Timken Roller Bearing Company. He also owned and operated a farm outside of Wooster, and even after he moved into the city, he kept his two tractors so that he could continue with his landscaping business on the side, do the gardening that he loved, and help plow his neighbors’ driveways during the wintertime.

A sports enthusiast, he coached basketball for St. Mary’s School and played on softball teams until he was 65 years old.

A devoted husband and father, he loved family gatherings, telling stories, and a good game of boccie.

Surviving are five children and their spouses, Arthur Jr. and Diana of Marlboro, Mass., and Carole and Scott Ford, Marie and Don Mortimer, Barbara and Richard Frame, and Richard Carl and Violet of Wooster. In addition there are 12 grandchildren and 14 brothers and sisters.

His wife, Vera (Yankello) Nolletti and their son, Robert Charles Nolletti, died previously.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. with Father Stephen Moran as the celebrant.

Calling hours for friends and relatives will be on Wednesday, Sept. 15 from 3-5 p.m.. and from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
