CRESTON -- Claude "Gene" Mayberry, 69, of Creston Station, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held.
Friends may call two hours prior to the services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Saline County, Ill. to Jacob C. and Eva Lena (Tibbs) Mayberry and married Reba Houseman on March 5, 1954. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Kathryn (Vance) Blair of New Alexandria, Pa., Carol (Michael) Finger of Wooster, Rick (Susan) Mayberry of Olney, Ill., and Brenda (Kim) Marty of Burbank; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill (Roberta) Mayberry of Surfside, S.C.
