WOOSTER - Charles Russell Newhouse, 78, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 14, 2006, at his home with his entire family present after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Church of the Saviour, with the Rev. Jerry Durham officiating. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, where Masonic memorial services will be held at 6:45 p.m.

Charles was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Morgantown, W.Va., to Charles W. and Rose Alice (White) Newhouse and married Patricia Sue Kennedy in 1954. She survives.

He had served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and moved to Ohio in 1957. He worked at the International Paper Co., Wooster, for 33 years in manufacturing management, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Church of the Saviour, was a long-time member of Ebenezer Lodge 33 F&AM and was a member of Wooster Volunteer Special Police Force for almost 20 years. For several years, he served in Wooster’s Junior Achievement. He loved serving as a volunteer.

Trout fishing was his past time enjoyment and then golfing. He and Pat enjoyed traveling with their RV during retirement.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are daughters, Karen (Mike) Rogers of Fort Mill, S.C., and Joyce (Ken) Gilbert of Wooster; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Ethel Compton of Morgantown, W.Va.

Several brothers and a sister died previously.

NEWHOUSE SERVICES

Services for Charles R. Newhouse, 78, of Wooster, were held Wednesday. Military rites were conducted by Wooster American Legion Post 68.

Pallbearers were Mike and Russell Rogers, Ken and Chaz Gilbert, Conrad Kennedy, Roger Compton, Joe Bougher, Howard Raber.
