ORRVILLE -- Deno John Mastrine, 79, of 1726 West Hill Drive, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville following a period of declining health.

Deno was born on Oct. 12, 1929, in Colver, Pa., to Pellegro and Cesarina (Fusi) Mastrine and married Mary Darl Wright on Nov. 25, 1960, in Winchester, Va. She survives.

He graduated from Cambria High School in 1947 in Ebensburg, Pa., and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the USS Uhlmann. After the war, he worked in the coal mines in Revloc, Pa. He moved to Orrville in 1959 and was employed at the former Orrville Body Co. and Ohio Injector Co. (Technocast), retiring in 1992.

Deno was a member of the Sons of Italy in Colver, Pa., United Mine Workers of America, Local 850 and a former board member of the Wayne County Community Federal Credit Union.

He loved his family and especially enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his friends.

Surviving are daughters Dena (Steve) Snyder of Orrville and Dana (Harold Jr.) Dravenstott of Medina; grandchildren Douglas and Mary Anne Snyder and Alan and Samantha Dravenstott; a brother, Julian (Nora) Mastrine of Sun City, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Meline; and nine brothers, Guido, Emilio, Lawrence, Rornolo, Duella, Ray, Fred, Aldo and Roland.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with pastor Tom Ledford officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery where military rites will be observed.
