WOOSTER -- Donald J. Nicholls, 83, of Wooster, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland.

Memorial services celebrating his life will be Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. at Congress Community Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland 44805.

Donald was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Stanton and Helen (Sauer) Nicholls and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of The College of Wooster and had taught school for 28 years, retiring from Northwestern School District.

He was a member of Congress Community Church, where he played the organ for more than 45 years.

Surviving are children, Kitsy (Pong) Thiemmedh of Jeromesville, Martha (Chert) Nompone of Dallas, Texas, Robert Nicholls of Wooster, Ruth (Gary) Agee of Loudonville and Jane Adkins of West Salem; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

His parents and brothers, Robert and David Nicholls, died previously.
