WOOSTER - Donald Leo Welty, 74, of Wooster, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at West View Manor Nursing Home.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Robin Myers officiating. Interment will be at Apple Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be held at 5:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster; or the Humane Society, P.O. Box 266, Wooster 44691.

Donald was born March 29, 1931, in Chester Township to Leo Dennis and Leota Marcella (Boreman) Welty and married Sarah Carey on Oct. 22, 1971. She survives.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a lineman and then lineman examiner for the Ohio Power Co. for 25 years. In 1978, he purchased Dalrymple Construction, working until his retirement in 2001. He was an electrician at the Wayne County Fairgrounds for many years.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Ebenezer Lodge 33, F&AM, was a 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Wilbur Welty American Legion Post 147, New Pittsburg Fire Department and Wooster Township Fire Department.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Donna Mae (George) Barthol of Bennett, Calif., Bobbie (Jeff) Moser, Cindy Welty and Lisa (Mark) Myers, all of Wooster and Amy (Jon) Eckstein of Longwood, Fla.; stepchildren, Beth (Peter Semenya) Young of Shreve, Karen (John) Redick and Jeffrey Young, both of Wooster, Timothy (Ronda) Young of Springfield and Holly Hubbard of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Jennifer Frisby, Jason Swineford, Rachel Wile, Katie Moser, Lucy Moser, Ryan Myers and Heather Myers; step-grandchildren, Sarah Redick, Chatfield Redick, Amanda Young and Paul Hubbard; a great-grandchild, Joshua Frisby; and a brother, Chester (Mavis) W. Welty of Sharon Township.

A brother, Roy A. Welty, died previously.

Services for Donald L. Welty, 74, of Wooster, were held Wednesday. Military honors were conducted by Wooster American Legion Post 68.

Pallbearers were Jason Swineford, Ryan Myers, Jeff Young, Paul Hubbard, Chat Redick and Jeff Moser. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Young, Pete Semenyna, John Redick, Jon Eckstein, Mark Myers and Chet Welty
