SHREVE -- Doyle W. "Hank" McClaran, 84, of Shreve, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at his residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shreve Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with the Rev. Priscilla E. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-8 p.m. with Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Shreve to Arthur and Stella (Wise) McClaran and married Joanne Chapman on Sept. 25, 1949. She survives.
He was a member of Shreve Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he served as a deacon and trustee. He served on the Shreve School Board and later on the Triway School Board. He was a life member of the Shreve American Legion, Shreve Garfield Lodge No. 528 F.&A.M., and the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, golfing, and going out to his farm and being in nature.
He had worked at the former Ceylon E. Hudson as a stockbroker, and retired from the Wayne County National Bank as a trust officer.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and was close to the members of his unit.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Steve McClaran of Shreve and Doug McClaran of Wooster; two sisters, Freda Willison of West Covina, Calif., and Carolyn (Jim) Snell of Shreve; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wayne and Marion McClaran, and a niece, Cindy Harper.
