RITTMAN - Ernest E. Howell, 84, of Rittman, died Friday afternoon, March 19, 2004, at his home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1919, in Sardis, Monroe County, to Edward and Lula (Brooks) Howell and lived in Rittman since 1937.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a supervisor at the Morton Salt Company in Rittman, where he was employed for 25 years until retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Rittman Apostolic Christian Church, and the Howard A. Bair Post No. 423 of the American Legion in Rittman.
He married Rowene Ramsier on May 31, 1941, and she survives. Also surviving are sons, Rodney (Kathy) Howell of Smithville, and Douglas (Thena) Howell of Newark; daughters, Annette Lorentz of Wadsworth, Deanna Thompson of Rittman, and Darla (Michael) Ferguson of Groveport; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Howell of Sardis.
A son-in-law, Melvin Thompson, a brother, Anthony Howell, and sisters, Madeline Petty, Katherine Kemp, Ruth Sutters, and Mary Lloyd all died previously.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Rittman Apostolic Christian Church with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at Apostolic Cemetery.
Friends may call today (Sunday) from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman, and from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Monday at the church.
