WOOSTER -- Edwin F. Nelson, 81, 2852 S. Honeytown Road, Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Monday morning, Nov. 5, 2007, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Drive, Wooster, with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating, followed by interment at Apple Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday.

He was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Meigs County, to Frank D. and Mittie M. (Ogden) Nelson and moved to Wayne County in 1959.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Feb. 24, 1945-Jan. 13, 1947.
He married Goldie Mae Knotts on Sept. 27, 1945, in Greenup, Ky. She survives.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster before retiring in 1987 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Apple Creek United Methodist Church, a former volunteer fireman for 12 years with Wooster Township Fire Department, former member of both Meigs County Grange and Fairview Bow Hunters Club.
He was proud to have a certificate showing he never missed a day of school in 12 years; was an avid boater, fisherman, camper and jogger. He enjoyed fixing and coming up with new ideas for many things in general.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Paul E. (Mary) Nelson of Hocking Hills; a daughter, Peggy L. (Lee) Kuhns of Apple Creek; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two stepsisters, Shirley and Grace, two sisters, Nina and Vesta and two brothers, Clair and Archie.
