STERLING - Elmer H. “Tug” Maibach, 87, of Sterling, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla., after a short illness.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Smithville Apostolic Christian Church, 8530 Fulton Road, Sterling, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at Apostolic Cemetery in Rittman.
Friends may call Sunday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Drive, Rittman and Monday from 9:30-10:15 a.m. at the church. For online registry, obituary and condolences, visit www.legacy.com.

Elmer was born Dec. 23, 1918, in Sterling to Isaac W. and Mabel A. (Perrenod) Maibach and married Alma Beery on April 8, 1943. She survives.
“Tug” served in the U.S. Army during World War II, both domestically and in the Pacific and his life joy was visiting and reaching out to others.
He is lovingly remembered by family and many friends.
He was a life resident of Sterling and was a partner and treasurer of Maibach’s Home Furnishings of Sterling, where he had worked all of his life.
He had attended Smithville Apostolic Christian Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Gary (Mary Ann) Maibach of Sterling and Gail (Ned) Spangler of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Karen (Jim) Widmer, Lisa (Joe) Pallini, Mark (Julie) Maibach, Eric Spangler, David (Larisa) Maibach and James (Susan) Maibach; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth (Don) Glessner of Sterling.
His parents and brothers, Paul and Ed Maibach, died previously.
