WOOSTER -- Howard E. NeSmith Sr., 85, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 7, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Friends may call Friday, Nov. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ronald L. Jefferson officiating. Entombment will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where full military honors will be held.

Howard was born July 28, 1922, in Shingler, Ga., to the late Henry and Susie Mae (Jackson) NeSmith and married Anagene Frazier on Oct. 17, 1981. She survives.
He retired as a sargeant-major from the U.S. Army after serving 35 years as a medic during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War.
He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family.
Howard will be deeply missed by his wife; sons, Howard E. NeSmith Jr., of San Antonio, Texas, John (Janet) of Creston; a stepson, Malcom (Deb) Frazier of West Salem; a stepdaughter, Gwendolyn (Danny) Dilyard of Wooster; four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Robert L. Simmons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia F. (Griswold) NeSmith; a stepsister, Dorothy Agee; and a stepson, Frank E. Frazier Jr.
