WOOSTER -- Howard William Marcum Sr., 72, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Cincinnati, the son of Vernon and Cora (Troscher) Marcum, and married Janet Ward. She survives.
Howard was a welder and then a supervisor at The Gerstenslager Co. for 35 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman and was a Browns, Cavs and Indians fan. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 53 years, are children, Belinda (Ron) Messner and Sonny (Pam) Marcum, both of Wooster, Keith (Janelle) Marcum of Shreve, Kelly (Leslie) Marcum of Wooster, Lisa McDowell and Jamie Heath of Wooster; his mother of California; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Adkins of California, and Verna Faye Henry of Cincinnati; and a brother, Vernon Marcum of Kentucky.
Howard was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother and sister.
Friends will be received at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, on Tuesday evening, Sept. 1, from 6-8 p.m.
Services will be held at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William Lawson officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.

MARCUM SERVICES
Services for Howard W. Marcum Sr., 72, of Wooster, were held Wednesday. Millitary services were conducted by the 555th Honors Detachment of Wooster.
Pallbearers were Garrett, Kyle, Kristofer, Andrew and Jeremy Marcum and Ron Messner.
