Lautzenheiser, John
Additional Notes
All of our family's names were listed correctly except for my grandfather, John Lautzenheiser (b. 1893, d. 1975), who fought in World War I. His last name is listed as "Lutzenheiser" but should be "Lautzenheiser" like the rest.
I don't know that much about my grandfather's service in World War I other than that he and his younger brother Fred (my mother and father both had uncles named Fred, so you can see why I was named that) were in Germany at Arzheim, right across the Rhine from Koblenz, and their job was to build and maintain a bridge across the Rhine. They were both skillful carpenters and that was why they were assigned to the bridge. Somewhere we have a book with the number of the regiment, etc. If I find it I will let you know. I went to Arzheim in 1991 when I was in Germany researching family history, and I met someone on the street who was a child in 1917-18 and remembered the days when the Americans were housed in the town. Each house had an American or two billeted in it, it seems.
