The Rev. Manuel W. Tanner, 81, of Salesville and formerly of Rittman went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 20, 2009 at his home.
He was born February 17, 1928 in Clay County, WV to Jink and Nancy (Starcher) Tanner and lived in Rittman from 1964-1991. He moved to Salesville in 1991.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was the founder of Enterprise Baptist Church in Rittman.
He was employed at Schrader-Bellows Co. in Wadsworth for 25 years until retiring in 1990. He was a former coal miner in West Virginia. His wife, Elizabeth Tanner, died in 1998.
Surviving are his children, Dusty (Theresa) Tanner of Quaker City, Sheila (David) Wyatt of Rittman, and Jill (Raymond) Blankenship of Salesville, OH; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Moore of Liverpool, WV; step-sister, Lynn Good of Orrville; and special friend, Phyllis Blondheim of Salesville.
Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rittman Community Free Will Baptist Church, 354 Main St. with Rev. John W. Castle officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman.

Services for the Rev. Manuel W. Tanner, 81, of Salesville, were held Wednesday.
Pallbearers were Matt and Jared Wyatt, Jesse, Josef and Ray Blankenship, Ryan Godby, Brandon and Anthony Robertson.
