CRESTON -- Nester A. Young Sr., 83, of Geyers Chapel Road, died Sunday morning, Jan. 27, 2008, at Smithville-Western Care Center, after a short illness.
Services will be Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with Pastor Dan Moeller officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Church Cemetery near Sterling.
Friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nester was born Oct. 13, 1924, in Creston to the late Howard and Ada (Howard) Young and married Laura Shane on Jan. 22, 1947. She survives.
He had worked for the Timken Co. for 19 years and retired from Maibach's in Sterling in 1987, after 17 years of service.
He was a member of Sterling Grace Brethren Church, Creston American Legion Post 497 and had served on Creston Fire Department for 12 years.
He had made his home in Creston all of his life and enjoyed working in his lawn and garden and doing woodworking.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Laura, are children, Joan Shrout of Rittman, Rex (Carol) Young of Sterling and Nester (Pam) Young of Creston; grandchildren, Dawn (Tuffy) Shriber, Amy (Dan) Fugate, Stacey Price, Brad (Michele) Young and Chad (Gina) Young; great-grandchildren, Nick, Haylee and Jaret Fugate, Mitch and Lane Knieriem, Wes Shriber, Emily and Makenzie Price, Chase and Dylan Young; a brother, Walter Young of Creston; a sister, Patricia (Leroy) Sampson of Wooster; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Young and a sister, Emma Yoss.
