SHREVE - Richard L. Marion, 82, of Wells Road, died Sunday morning, July 16, 2006, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, July 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Millersburg, with Father Ronald Aubrey as celebrant. Burial will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve.
Friends may call Wednesday, July 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave. SW, P.O. Box 202, Wilmot 44689.
Richard was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Barberton to Louis and Lydia (Siegworth) Marion and married M. Jane (Girrard) Bowman. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Medics and retired from the Diamonite Co. in Shreve as general manager.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Millersburg and Wooster Rotary Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, William (Linda) Marion of Wooster and Christine (John) Vissman of Covington, Ky.; stepchildren, Alan (Kathy) Bowman of Lake Mary, Fla., Peter Bowman of Lynchburg, Va.; Jeanette (Robert) Kauffman of Shreve, Andrea (John) Wise of Chagrin Falls and Tina (Richard) Benson of Wooster; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis (Robert) Meck of Cedartown, Ga.
His first wife, Ruby, a son, David, and a brother, William, died previously.
