WOOSTER -- Robert "Bob" Neuhauser, 89, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, June 25, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Drive, Wooster, with the Rev. Lee Anderson officiating. interment will be in Wooster Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.custerglenn.com.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691; or to Wooster Township Fire & Rescue Fire Department, 1917 Millersburg Road, Wooster 44691.

Bob was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Columbus, to Emil and Mae (Beattie) Neuhauser and married Esther Batdorf on Jan. 28, 1967, in Wooster. She went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 11, 1997.

He had been a Wooster resident since 1966, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from July 29, 1942-Sept. 19, 1945.

He was a baker all of his life and for 41 years had worked at Buehler's. He loved bowling, enjoyed woodworking and a had talent for fixing things in general.

He had attended Wooster Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are sons, Ray A. (Kathy) Neuhauser of Wooster and Robert E. (Melinda) Neuhauser of Burbank; daughters, Roberta "Birdie" Weber of Wooster, Mae King of Chicago, Ill., and Robin Neuhauser of Wooster; Maurica "Mo" Whitman, whom he loved like a daughter; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion, "Beethovan."

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rebecca Craig; grandchildren, Kelly and twins who died at birth, Debbie and Donald; a great-grandson, Michael; brothers, Raymond and Bill; and a sister, Isabelle.

Services for Robert E. Neuhauser, 89, Wooster, were Monday.

Pallbearers were David Ledox, Ray and Robert Neuhauser, Scot Clapp, Rick, Brett, Brad and Bryson Yoder. Honorary pallbearers were Evan Neuhauser and Joe Ledox.
