STERLING -- Raymond W. "Bill" Lance, 73, of Sterling, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Akron City Hospital.
He was born Aug. 27, 1934, in Sterling to John W. and Gladys E. (Hatfield) Lance and was a life resident of Sterling. He was a 1952 graduate of Sterling High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1957-58.
He was formerly employed at Muellers Packaging in Seville and was a member of Sterling United Methodist Church, A.A. and the Wayne County Democratic Party, where he received the "Old Hickory Award" in 1992.
Surviving are a sister, Thelma Drayer of Rittman; many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Eight brothers and sisters died previously.
Services will be Monday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at Sterling United Methodist Church with the Rev. Timothy Kim officiating. Burial will be in Rittman Cemetery.
