WEST SALEM - Tony J. Newman, 46, of West Salem, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Marta Mathatas officiating. Following services, his body will be cremated and military services will be conducted by the James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Masonic Service will be conducted by the Harrisville Lodge No. 137 of Lodi at 8:45 p.m.
He was born Oct. 8, 1958, in Cookeville, Tenn. to David and Esther (Martinez) Newman.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years.
He had been employed for Tradesman International in Akron.
He was an active member of Harrisville Lodge No. 137 Free & Accepted Masons and Oriental No. 128 Royal Arch Masons.
Surviving are his wife, Amy M. (Rogers) Newman, whom he married June 24, 2000; four children, Shawn Newman of West Salem, Anthony Newman of Columbus, Michael Newman of Laurelville and Sierra Newman of Laurelville; a stepson, Scott Hall of Warren; his mother, Esther Newman of West Salem; two brothers, David Newman of Strongsville and Armando Newman of Brighton and two sisters, Deborah Majewski of Columbus and Tracey Wilson of Dublin.
His father, David Newman, died in 1982.
