ORRVILLE Virgil Dale Martin, 75, of Orrville, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday morning, April 10, 2005, following an eight-month illness.
A celebration of life service will be held at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak St., Orrville, on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Ike Graham and Del Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville.
Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service on Wednesday. Online registry and expressions of condolence may be made at www.aublefuneralhome.com.

Virgil was born on March 23, 1930, in Wooster, the son of the late Henry and Sarah (Lehman) Martin.
He attended Orrville City Schools for most of his education, and after his family moved to Dalton, he was a 1948 graduate of Dalton High School.
Virgil worked as a carpenter until entering the U.S. Army in 1951, where he served in Europe until 1953. He had worked for C.A. King Construction Company and also, for Bogner Construction of Wooster, from which he retired in 1994.
He was united in marriage to Sonya Diane Becker on Dec. 26, 1959, in Orrville. She survives.
Virgil was a member of Orrville Grace Brethren Church, and was a former Sunday School teacher, deacon, sound technician, and had helped with carpentry projects at the church. His life was characterized by 1 Thessalonians 4:1, "make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands " He loved to work with wood, making boomerangs, clocks, airplanes, knives, etc. He was a member of Carpenter's Union Local No. 69 of Canton.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife, Sonya Diane (Becker) Martin, are children, Linda (Paul) Flory of Smithville, Sarah Martin of Orrville, Jill (Allen) Polly of North Olmsted, and Tim Martin of Laurinburg, N.C.; three grandchildren; five brothers, Warren (Betty) Martin of Simi Valley, Calif., Arthur "Art" (Myrt) Martin of Marshallville, Jim (Sandy) Martin of Orrville, Paul (Bette) Martin of Orrville, Gordon (Gerry) Martin of Forest City, N.C.; two sisters, Miriam (Guido) Acquistapace of Downey, Calif. and Margaret (Gary) McDowell of Kidron and a sister-in-law, Susie Martin of St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clyde Martin, and a sister, Vera Martin.
