      Mr. Lilburn H. Steel died on Saturday at his residence on Locust avenue, Germantown. Mr. Steel was a son of the late Mr. Canby Steel, of the Farmers and Merchants Bank, in which situation he himself held a position till he was appointed to the post of paying teller for the Pennsylvania Company for Insurance on Lives and Granting Annuities. In their institution he continued during the remainder of his life. He rapidly won the confidence of the heads of the corporation, and in due time the post of treasurer becoming vacant he was selected to fill it.
      Some time ago he had a paralytic stroke, the result, it is believed, of previous ailments, and his life was for a time despaired of. He rallied, however, and got about again, though he was never able to give to his duties as treasurer the same attention as before, Within a few days he had a second paralytic stroke, from which he never recovered. He leaves a widow and four children, one of whom, Mr. George Steel, is in business in Germantown. The funeral takes place today from his late residence in Germantown, interment at Chestnut Hill.

Clarence Leedom, a young man near his majority, and a son of Edward Leedom, died at his father's, at Bay View, early on Thursday morning from an affection of the brain. He was a highly respected young man, by occupation a telegraph operator, and had recently been employed by the P., W. & B. Railroad Company. He had been unwell for some time, but was taken with a congestive chill on Monday last, giving been confined to bed only three days. He was an only son, and his untimely death is a sad bereavement to his parents. He was attended by Drs. Housekeeper and Worrall who used every means, but in vain, to prolong his life.

Robert S. Williamson Dead
Richard Peltz, deputy clerk of the Court of Quarter Sessions, yesterday received a dispatch from Boston informing him of the death of Robert S. Williamson. The deceased, who was about 60 years of age, has held at different times numerous important offices in this city, among them being bookkeeper for the Fourth National Bank, chief clerk in the office of Receiver of Taxes, chief clerk for John L. Hill when Collector of Delinquent Taxes, and secretary of the Board of Guardians of the Poor.

Russellville. April 22 - Mrs. Jane A. Leedom died this morning at 3 o'clock at the residence of her son-in-law, James M. McCutchen, President of the Bank of Russellville. She was 85 years old, and her death has been expected for several days. Mrs. Leedom was an estimable old lady, and a devout Christian member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church. Two sons and one daughter survive her, S. V. Leedom, Sid Leedom and Mrs. J. M. McCutchen. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

Samuel W. Leedom
, for ten years Secretary and Auditor of the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, died of pneumonia yesterday at his home, in Newton, Mass., after a brief illness. He was born in Merion, Penn., and early in his business life filled various positions with the Reading Coal and Iron Company, coming to Boston to take the position which he was holding at the time of his death. His widow and one son here and his parents, in Philadelphia, survive him.

Samuel W. Leedom Dead.
Newtown, Feb 9 - Samuel Winfield Leedom, secretary and auditor of the New England telephone and telegraph company, died this morning at his home on Willard St, Newton, of pneumonia. He had been ill but a week.

Born of Quaker parents in Merion, Penn, Jan 4, 1852, Mr. Leedom attended the schools of Philadelphia, and later engaged in business in that city.

He was associated for many years with the Reading coal and iron company, but resigned 11 years ago to come to Boston and enter upon those duties he was fulfilling at the time of his death.

Mr. Leedom resided in Boston until about three years ago, when the family removed to this city. He was a strict adherent of the Quaker faith. His wife and son survive him. His father, mother and brother reside in Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the family residence.

– Specialist on Nervous Diseases Passes Away After a Short Illness
Dr. J. Augustus Carncross, first assistant physician in the Friends’ Asylum for the Insane at Frankfort, died yesterday after a short illness. Dr. Carncross was born in 1845 and is a graduate if the Jefferson Medical College. He was an expert in mental and nevous diseases and served on the staff of the Sanitarium at Dansville, N.Y., the State Hospital for the Insane at Warren, Pa., and the Philadelphia Hospital.

Dr. Carncross was a prominent member of the Philadelphia Medical Society and the Philadelphia Medical Club. He is survived by a son, Dr. Horace Carncross, and a daughter, who is a student at the Woman’s Medical College. Dr. Carncross was prominently identified with the Society of Friends and was a member of the Merion Quarterly Meeting. He has been connected with the Asylum since July, 1895. The funeral will take place on Saturday, from the Merion Meeting House.
