IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. The twelveth of January in the year of our Lord
One
thousand seven hundred and seventy nine. I Alexander Skiles of Leacock
Township of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania. Farmer being very sick and
weak of body, but perfect Mind and Memory. Thanks be unto God for the same
and
calling to mind the mortality of body and knowing that he appoineted for
all
men once to die I do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that
is
to say Principably and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto God
that
gaveit and as concerning my body I recommand to the earth to be buried in
a
decent manner (illegable...............................) amd executors,
nothing doubling to as touching such worldy estate wherewith it hath
pleased
God to bless me with in this life. I give devise and dispose of the same in
manner and forme following that is to say, in the first place I desire all
my
just debts and funeral charges to be paid by my executors hereafter
mentioned
and further I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Elizabeth Skiles
all
my household furniture and also the full thirds of all my real & personal
estate to be paid to her three months after my decease by my executors:
This I
give to her as her dowrey to her, her heirs and assigns forever.
ITEM, I give and bequeath to my only son Henry Skiles the two full thirds
of
the remainder and residue of my estate that shall he have, him and his
heirs
and assigns forever.
ITEM I giave and bequeath to my daughter Hannah Skiles the last one third
part
this shall she have to her, her heirs and assigns forever. And lastly I
consitute ordain and appoint David Watson and Willam Skiles my executors of
this my last will and testament to execute in manner following to wit; That
they are to make sale of all and singular my real and personal estate for
cash
only and to divide it as before directed, only my childrens money to be put
to
use till they arrive at fourteen the use to be given yearly towards their
maintenance & schooling and afterwards till they are 21 years of age. Their
interest to be put yearly to there principal stock bt my exceutors David
Watson and William Skiles.
And lastly, I do hereby disallow, revoke and disannull all and every other
testament, wills and legacies , bequests and executors by me in any wise
before this time ( illegible) willed and bequested and ratifying and
confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, signed sealed pronounced and
deliveredin presents of us, Jacob Myer, William Rutter, David Glenn.

N. B: I will and allow that Joseph Rutter be paid the sum of four pounds
seven
shillings and six pense in hard money.
LANCASTER COUNTY ss. On the fifth day of April Anno Domini 1779 Before me
the
subscriber personally appeared Jacob Myers and William Rutter two of the
subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will and on their solemn
affirmations
did declarre and say respectely that they saw and heared Alexander Skiles
yhe
before named testator, sign, seal, oublish, pronounce and declare the
foregoing writing as and for this last will and testament and that all the
doing thereof he was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding
to
the best of their knowledge, observation and belief.

Be it remembered, that on the fifth day of April AD 1779 the last will and
testament of Alexander Skiles late of Leacock Township int the County of
Lancaster Yeoman deced. was proved in due form of law and letter.
Testamentary
therein named they being first duly qualified well and truly to Administer
the
estate of the deceased and to exhibed a true and perfect inventory thereof
into the Registers office at Lancaster on or before the fifthe day of May
next
and to render a true and perfect Account of their Administration on the
said
estate when thereto lawfully reviewed.
