Skiles - Skyles Queries

In 1989 I was working in the Dept. of Justice. I came across an Elizabeth SKYLES working there. She states that she traced the name SKILES from Scotland to Maryland. A nobleman from Scotland landed in Maryland and changed his name to SKYLES. I did not get a chance to speak with her again.
Do you have any information that might substantiate this?

Dan Skiles, Disabled American Vet
My husband was in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict (War). He had a real good buddy who was the best man at our wedding. We have been married for 47 years. It will soon be 50. We were wondering what ever happened to Dan our best man. We know that he was badley injured in the war. We visited with him for several years. Then circumstances and moving caused us to lose contact with him. We now live in Alaska. We still think of him often and would truly like to find out where he is. The last we heard of him he was living somewhere around Richmond California. I did not see his name listed in your military roster. If you know of him or could find him we would realy appreciate it.
