| Possibly arrived Hobart in June 1834 from London on board the "Red Rover" - listed on board are a Mr, Mrs and child Cosser. Agrees with death certificate statement of residence. | There is a problem with Edward's parents names. On his baptismal cert the parents are listed as Joseph Paterson and Elizabeth Roberts. However, in the Historical Records of Australia there are a series of letters by a William Paterson re a dispute over land in Hobart Town. One of these letters lists the names and birthdates of the children - and the information in this list is TOO close to the baptismal records for the children not to be the same ones. Also in these letters, the only mention of the mother's name is 'Elisabeth'...which fits with the baptism records. (all the William information has been provided by Bill Mirams). Left TAS for VIC in 1840 - Edward Paterson depart Launceston for Port Phillip per the ship 'Lowestoft' on 8 July 1840 (REF Launceston Advertiser 16 Jul 1840). [734] The obit notice in The Age incorrectly lists Edward as the 2nd white child born in TAS. [734] Edward is listed in the 1841 census for NSW: [735] Surname - First Names - Return - Residence - temID - PageNo - ReelNo Paterson Alexander 112 Town Parramatta [X948] 15 2222 Paterson Edward 0 Township Melbourne, County Bourke, District Port Phillip [X949] 135 2222 Paterson J H. 0 Town Melbourne, County Bourke, District Port Phillip [X949] 123 2222 Paterson John 180 Black Wattle Swamp, Parish Petersham, County Cumberland, District Sydney [X950] 113 2223 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
