James Hamrick is a descendant of Patrick Hamrick (1684-1764) of Prince William County, VA. I will add this line to my pages soon.
James and Rachel moved to Wyanet township, Bureau Co., IL sometime around 1839 (there are conflicted reports as to the exact year), one of the original settlers of the region. Their home was in the northwest corner of the northeast quarter of section 22 of Wyanet township, about a mile east of the current town of Wyanet. The farm was well-located on the Center Prairie, perhaps the richest tract of land in the county, and bordering the timber land of the West Bureau Creek.
James is listed as a founding member of the Baptist Church in Princeton, which was organized in 1836. He served as supervisor of Wyanet township from 1852-55, 1871-76, and 1881-82.
