MRS. ANN B. BARKER DIES AT HOME OF SON WHEN 95 YEARS OLD
Mrs. Ann Bennett Barker, 95 years old, widow of William Barker, and resident
of Rockford 28 years, died Thursday morning at 2:25 o'clock at the home
of her son, William Barker, 908 Rockton avenue. She had been in failing
health for a year from infirmities of age, and a fall suffered last Sunday
hastened her death.
She was
born in Nottingham, England, Nov. 28, 1820, and came to the United States
37 years ago.
Her husband
died 48 years ago. She is survived by the son at whose home she was cared
for in her declining years; three grandsons, William A. Barker, Glen road;
Arthur Barker, Harlem road, and Harold Barker, 908 Rockton avenue; and
four great-grandchildren.
Mrs.
Barker was a woman of modest worth and Christian life, who entirely merited
the rich regard in which she was held by a wide circle of friends.
Funeral
services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the William
Barker residence, the Rev. E. R. McCorkle officiating. Burial will be in
Greenwood cemetery.
