Usenet policy and the sensibilities of most readers frown on what
might be called advertising in most newsgroups.There is precedent in Usenet for .marketplace groups.
There are many questions which are asked, or could be asked,
which have as their best reply an endorsement of or description
of a commercial product.Genealogists and the people who provide services will benefit
from having one forum for all posts which advertise or recommend
genealogical products and services.

The focus of the group is on exchanging information on products
and services which the marketplace has available for genealogists.
Postings on topics unrelated to genealogy are not welcome.*** THE FOLLOWING WILL BE ACCEPTABLE IN SOC.GENEALOGY.MARKETPLACE ***
* Non-commercial (i.e. USER) endorsements or comments about
good or bad products and/or services.
* Commercial announcements of new releases of products and/or
services related to genealogy.

* Short catalogs of information. Longer catalogs may be
summarized and an address given for obtaining more information.
* Newsletter advertisements for family newsletters with legitimate
genealogical purpose.
* Want ads for books or other genealogical items.Email and ground mail addresses should be provided with all posts.
