Born 19 July 1882
in Solingen (zho'-ling-en), Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany, the daughter of Otto Voos and Clara
Reuter, Adele married Edward Oliver Hamilton Logan 17 July 1905. Edward was the son of
William Hamilton Henry Logan and Esther Susan Sider. Witnesses to their marriage
were Charles Fischer, Adele's brother-in-law, and Bessie Logan, sister of Edward.
The marriage was performed by Rev. George Duval, at St. James (Jacobs) Episcopal
Church, Jefferson Ave., Buffalo, New York.
The family remembers that Adele never came to the breakfast table until she was dressed, including a starched apron, hair combed, and a bit of rouge on her cheeks. Now she was ready to cook breakfast and then get started baking bread and her famous kuchens.
Sunday mornings she attended church, then returned home to start dinner, usually having it ready by two o'clock in the afternoon. Can you smell the pot roast with carrots, onions and pan roasted new potatoes?
After the death of Ollie in 1932, and being left with three children
under the age of thirteen, Adele was obliged to go to work. For a time, she
did what most women did during the Depression era, housework for affluent families.
When the children were grown she took a position as a cook for the owner
of Great Lakes Engineering Corp. She lived in their family home on Meadow Rd. until
she retired at about the age of sixty-eight.
Adele, passed away 16 July 1968 and is laid to rest at Buffalo Cemetery,
Pine Ridge Rd. Cheektowaga, Erie Co., New York.

Early in 1910 the family lived at 30 Pine Ridge Rd., Cheektowaga, Erie Co., New York. It was nearby
this address, that Ollie owned a malt and hops store when it was common for people
to brew beer at home. After a time Ollie worked as a machinist. He loved to sing, and
was a member of the 'Modern Woodmen of America'. I believe this organization held
singing contests. I have in my possession a photo of the uniformed men
with a trophy awarded at Crystal Beach, Ontario, Canada
Without having been naturalized an American, Ollie passed away in 1932 while the family was
living on Olympic Ave. in Buffalo.
