Joan Hapeman Somers research note:
His birth place is listed as Ridgeburg, N.Y. on his death certificate.
There is a Richburg, Allegany Co., N.Y., and a Ridgebury, Bradford Co., Pa.
After pondering the evidence, I have selected Ridgebury, Bradford Co., Pa.
as his birthplace, until proven otherwise. At age one, he was listed in
the 1860 Ridgebury, Bradford Co. Census

Edward was the son of Jeremiah Hapeman (1806-1883) & Amelia Rickey (1835-aft 1897).
He married first, Cora Starkweather (1862-1917), daughter of Eugene (1825-bef Jun 1870)
& Lydia Starkweather (C1837-?). Five children were born of this union, Claude (1878-1899);
Clarence (1881-1957); Elizabeth "Bessie" (1883-1928); Arthur (1884-C1946); and Laura (1888-1889).

His second marriage was to Laura May Mitchell, the daughter of David W. Mitchell
(1849-1934) and Emily Furman (1850-1928). Ten children were born of this marriage.
Marion (1895-1972); Earl (1896-C1899); Leonard (1897-1983); Olin (changed his name to Hapman)
(1899-1961); Merriett (1900-1972); Frederick (1906-1994); Mildred (1907-1994); Roy (1909-1983);
Gerald (1911-1988); and Jay (1916-1983). All but Earl lived to adulthood.

a farm. Throughout his life, Edward was noted as a day laborer, railroad fireman,
and for a time worked in a saw mill in Coudersport, Pa. About 1919 the family
migrated to Buffalo, New York, where he was employed in a tool foundry.

He passed away 12 Nov. 1936 in Depew, Erie Co., New York, and
is laid to rest beside Laura, at Buffalo Cemetery,
