A 1911 photo is on the left. Born in Ridgebury, Bradford Co., Pa., Edward was the son of
Jeremiah Hapeman & Amelia Rickey, he married first Cora Starkweather,
daughter of Eugene & Lydia Starkweather. Four children were born of this union.
Claude 1878, Clarence 1881, Elizabeth "Bessie" 1883, Arthur 1884 and Laura 1888.
His second marriage was to Laura May Mitchell, the daughter of David W.
Mitchell and Emily Furman. Ten children were born of this marriage. Marion,
Earl, Leonard, Olin, Merriett, Frederick, Mildred,
Roy, Gerald, and Jay. All but Earl lived to adulthood and are presently deceased.
Although Edward worked away from home the family lived on and worked a farm. Throughout his
life, Edward was noted as a day laborer, railroad fireman, and for a time worked
in a saw mill in Coudersport, Pa. About 1920 the family migrated to Buffalo, New York,
where he was employed in a tool foundry.
He passed away 12 Nov. 1936 in Depew, Erie Co., New York, and
is laid to rest beside Laura, at Buffalo Cemetery, Pine Ridge Rd.,
Cheektowaga, Erie Co., New York
