It should be noted that the first owner of the Ufton Estate where several generations of the Perkins family were born and raised, was Lord William Perkins of Ufton(1390-1451). The manor, though not in the Perkins
Family since about 1750, is still standing in Berkshire near Reading, about 2 miles from the village of Ufton Nervet.
It is now used by the Berkshire schools as an outdoor and historical education center and very nicely maintained. |
