My line starts with my first proven ancestor Henry Sprouse was born ca 1770-90 in Albemarle County, Virginia area and is believed that he was the son of Henry Sprouse and Tabitha Thacker married September 4, 1779. 4 - (Chancery Causes 1895 - Albemarle County, Virginia - "To the hon John L Cochran judge of the County Court of Albemarle. Humbly complaining ? unto your hon your orator Randolph Gibson of the County of Albemarle , State of Virginia and Mary his wife. That Henry Sprouse dec'd of the County and State of Aforesaid, the late father of your oratrix was in his life time and at the time of his death sieged in fee simple of a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the aforesaid county of Albemarle adjoining the lands of John White, Pleasant Lankford, Prior Woodson and other and containing one hundred acres more or less: and being so seized he the said Henry Sprouse sometime during the month of July in the year 1863 departed this life intestate leaving Dicey his wife, his children Mildred Sprouse (now Mildred Hix-Hicks), Catherine Sprouse, Diana Sprouse (now Diana Gibson), Albert Sprouse, Africa Sprouse and your oratrix, and his grand-child Eliza Gibson (now Eliza Sprouse) the daughter of Elizabeth Gibson (formerly Elizabeth Sprouce) and Dabney Sprouce (Dabney added in side bar) surviving him that at the march term of the county court of Albemarle in the year 1871 his personal estate was committed to the hands of J. H. Parksdale, Sheriff of Albemarle County and the said land descended and came to your oratrix and the other heirs of Henry Sprouse dec's above mentioned subject to the dower of the their said mother Dicey Sprouse and one other heir herein after referred to your orator and oratrix further ? that the said Dicey Sprouse widow of the said Henry departed this life in on about the month of ___ 18__ whereupon your orator, (this was the only page and apparently another page is missing.)
