My Grandmother McPhee, from Bowmore...

Thanks to Allison Akgungor for providing this information!

A little booklet entitled "My Grandmother", written by John Stuart Fleming, that was printed in Niagara Falls, New York, no year shown. It is a detailed story of his grandmother; Jessie McPhee (b. 1833, Bowmore, Islay) and her parents Alexander McPhee, and Margaret Campbell McLean and 12 other children and their emigration to the Owen Sound area of Ontario in 1850 & 1852. On their first attempt to leave Islay their overloaded ship sank just outside Port Ellen harbour. Everyone survived but they lost all their possessions and had to start saving for their passage all over again!
