This map was drawn by a surveyor in 1855. Oro township is about 60 miles north of Toronto, Ontario. To give you an idea of scale, it is about 25 miles across the land from Lake Simcoe to Nottawasaga Bay
If you can locate Kempenfeldt Bay, off of Lake Simcoe, there is a town called Barrie at the end of the bay. Look above, the homestead site is in red, and the church in is blue
