A section of the Map of Cantyre, drawn by Mr. Timothy Pont and found in the 1664 atlas prepared by the Dutchman, Wilhelm Blaen. Mr. Pont graduated from St. Andrew's University, Fife, Scotland in 1583. By 1600, he had completed his survey of Scotland; he died between 1611 and 1614, leaving a large collection of maps, most of which did not survive. The map, which shows Kintyre farms of the 1600's, is laid out in such a way that north is on the right side, and south is on the left. Campbeltown Loch is listed as Loch Kilkeran.
