From what I have been able to find out, Pierre Joseph Lacquement is as far back as I can go. He was born around 1799 or so in France, supposedly in an area called St. Armand les Eaux, Nord. (I need to do more research on this area, but so far, I've been too busy chasing down the decedents!) His wife, Maria Josephine Touké, was born about the same time and supposedly in the same area. The both died in Sebastopol, Illinois, which is no longer a town there. I have found their cemetery records in Madison County, in Gulick Cemetery, however.
I have found census records for 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 that have given me a better feel for the age of Pierre and Marie, as well as finding a listing for their arrival in the US in 1850 on board a ship named the Pyramid which landed in New Orleans, Louisiana. On the information I have found on the passenger list (I haven't seen the microfilm for it yet), it states that they were both 50 when they arrived in New Orleans in July of 1850. With that in mind, I have used the year of 1799 for an "about" year of birth for both of them. Of course, the name was misspelled on the listing, so it did take a bit of hunting to find them. It is spelled Lachman on the passenger listings I've seen. But with the names of the children to help guide me, I am 99% sure that this is the right family. Below is a list of the children that Pierre and Marie had, to the best of my knowledge. Each name is a link to a page about that individual. If you have any further information, please contact me.
