As to John Loeb, I have very little information. I do know that he was a glazier for a glass company in Cleveland, Ohio. He and Bertha married in Cleveland on May 30, 1898. They appeared to have lived in Cleveland all their lives. I had a chance to speak with only one of their children, Helen Loeb Kirchoffer in February of 1995. At that time she related a couple of stories of how her mother once dressed her in my grandfather's Navy uniform. The family lived in the former "Statler Mansion" on Cleveland's West Side. Helen told me that her father had paid $17,000 for the home at the time. She was going to try to get me into the house, but it never happened.
