A hall was built by Saxton Sawmilling in the early 1950s, next to what is now the shop. Films were shown there in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and church services held. When the village was bought by the Victorian Lions Charitable Trust they moved it further into the Village where it has been used as an art/activities room.
Longford
Maffra
First meeting to form one in September 1874. The facade is possibly what is now the Art Space at the Maffra Library. This later grew to take in all the Memorial Hall, minutes from a reasonably early period are available at Maffra Library.

Nambrok
Margaret Murray writes: This is the hall that I spent so much time in during my teenage years, a place where I met many district young people every second Tuesday night at Young Farmers, where I made my debut and where I met my husband and of which I have such great memories.
Nambrok Hall is quite a large hall for a country hall and has been the focus of that community since 1926 when the first meeting was convened. Also there were two halls prior to this that were combined to create this hall and that is the former Nambrok Hall and the hall known as The Pines. These do not exist now.
I remember as a young girl going to church and Sunday School at the Denison Hall. I learned to dance in that hall at the regular family dances, you know the ones where everyone took a plate of supper along to and the children learned to dance along with their parents. I also learned to play badminton there.
If anyone wants further information on the halls in the Nambrok - Denison area take a look at a publication called The Plains - A History of Namrok-Denison
It is on the Nambrok Hall Road which crosses the Maffra Rosedale Road. If travelling from Maffra to the highway it is the next road from the Nambrok School and you turn right and it is just up there about a a half km.
Newry (Upper Maffra)
Opened 1882. Still has a "skating floor" reinforced in the corners.
Port Albert
Now though to be built 1875, from date found on old parapet within the building during restoration. (LB)
The Parliamentary Papers show their first grant was awarded for the year ending 30th June, 1876. They got 32 pounds.5.3 for the purchase of books and 100.0towards their building. (Pam Baragwanath)
Rosedale
For an image, click HERE. This image is of the section facing Hood Street, which may be the first section. Or is the first section that whih currently houses the library, facing the Princes Highway. Does anyone know?
Pam Baragwanath writes: I see by my book I'm quoting 1863, however the Parliamentary Papers show the first grant for the year 1866, for the amount 11 pounds, 10.3. It was unspecified during that year, re the use etc.
The Gippsland Times of late 1874 (date not to hand at present) reports construction beginning on "a new brick hall" (LB)
