'Spare' BDM Records
for the Victorian North Eastern

The following pages list details of 'spare' BDM (Birth, Death and Marriage) records in north east Victoria that subscibers to the AUS-VIC-NE list (and others) have volunteered to provide to other researchers.

Up until recently, BDMs were recorded with about five entries on each page, so that, in recent years, when you got your rellie's record, it generally contained a number of other unrelated entries for the same area and time. These are commonly known as 'spares'.

Whether 'spare' entries appear on your records seems to be a hit and miss affair. Records requested ten to twenty years ago had the spare entries blanked out. Records requested more recently are generally full page copies (i.e. including spares) for the older events (i.e. last century) or transcribed single entry copies for more 'recent' events (where privacy may be breached).

In a few cases, the 'spare' record is one, that when received, turned out to not be for the person being researched.

The entries are from people who, in researching their own ancestor's details, have received 'spare' entries, and are willing to transcribe the information from these 'spare' records for other researchers for free, .
