Related Rootsweb Mailing Lists
The following is a list of mailing lists (hosted by Rootsweb) that are related to the AUS-VIC-NE mailing list.
Please remember that the AVNE list is purely for discussion of regional, local and family history research in north east victoria, and that it may be appropriate to post to other related mailing lists instead of, or as well as, AVNE.
All the following lists have both a 'list' and 'digest' mode which you can subscribe to. In the 'list' mode, each post is sent as a separate email to each subscriber. In the 'digest' mode, a collection of posts for the day is sent as a single combined email.
'Newbies' are encouraged to subscribe in the 'list' mode as it is easier for them to respond to posts, rather than pick an individual post out of a digest of multiple posts. People that like to see things as they happen, should also subscribe in 'list' mode. Those that prefer to receive one consolidated email a day rather than individual ones should subscribe in 'digest' mode.
The difference in the subscription addresses for the 'list' or 'digest' mode is the '-L' or '-D' in the address.
To subscribe to a mailing list, send an email to the appropriate address with just the word 'subscribe' (without the quotes) in the body of the email.
The AUS-VIC-GIPPSLAND mailing list is a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in family, local and regional history relating to the Gippsland area. For the purpose of this list, Gippsland is that area of the state of Victoria, Australia, east of Dandenong (an eastern suburb of Melbourne), north of the coast, south of the Great Dividing Range, through to the NSW border. The main towns include Warragul, Leongatha, Korumburra, Morwell, Traralgon, Sale, Maffra, Bairnsdale, Orbost and Omeo.

The AUS-VIC-CENTRAL mailing list is a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in family, local and regional history in central Victoria, Australia, which is defined as that central area of Victoria immediately north-east, north and west of Melbourne (but not including Melbourne and its suburbs). The major towns included are Alexandra, Bacchus Marsh, Broadford, Eildon, Gisborne, Kilmore, Macedon, Melton, Rushworth, Seymour, Whittlesea, Woodend and Yea.

The AUS-VIC-DANDENONG-RANGES mailing list is a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in family, local and regional history relating to the Dandenong Ranges which are east of Melbourne including Ferntree Gully, Dandenong, Pakenham, Gembrook, Healesville and Mount Dandenong.

Unfortunately, no NSW lists cover the area north of the Murray River and adjoining the AUS-VIC-NE list area, so in the meantime, feel free to use the AUS-VIC-NE list for those NSW Murray River towns, until someone starts a Central NSW list.
