This page lists those members of the AUS-NSW-WEST mailing list who are prepared to offer lookups to others. This is the preferred method of requesting information, rather than a general request direct to the list of "Can SKS (some kind soul) look for a birth for Fred Bloggs". If no-one is offering the NSW-West lookup you are after, then it is quite appropriate to ask the List. Alternatively Genealogy Helplist Australia is also a good resource for areas outside of NSW-West.
If a number of people have offered to do lookups from the same source, choose one of them at random to ease the top one's workload.
Please e-mail the person listed below direct, and give a subject heading such as: Lookups from NSWW page. This lets them know how you found them, as well as helping them keep a track of the request.
Please make your request as specific as possible. Requests such as "Can you tell me anything about Fred Bloggs" or "Do you have a burial for Fred Bloggs", when someone has listed thirty cemeteries, may well be ignored, with the full support of the Listowner. The preferred form of the request is something like "Can you tell me if there is a headstone for Fred Bloggs in the Pooncarie Cemetery".
The people who have made the offer to lookup their records are busy, and their offer is most appreciated. Please make it as easy for them as you can.
Please DO NOT send pages of information or request all references for a surname
The volunteer will decide just what he or she is willing and able to do. Exactly what volunteers will do varies greatly, but in general, extensive research will not be done. Remember the volunteer is never obligated to do something for you.
The items listed can usually be obtained for free, but you are expected to pay for any costs the volunteer has to spend directly on your behalf such as copy or postage costs. If there are such costs both parties should agree to them before they are incurred.
The participants are volunteers and are helping you for free. Volunteers are not allowed to charge for their time or make a profit in any way.
If you have records that you are prepared to check for others on the list, or for any enquiries or comments about the operation of this page, please e-mail the Listowner at kapana@netspace.net.au
