Guild Of One Name Studies (GOONS).
The Guild is a collection of individuals who register particular surnames they are interested in and undertake to collect every reference they are able to find to their registered surname(s). The other undertaking is that reply paid enquiries (including now emails) are replied to even if the 'One Namer' is unable to help the enquirer.
I am building up my database but the majority of the information I have is based in either England/Wales or Scotland with help from some people on the Mailing list who have sent me their own trees from elsewhere (or some are actually my own distant cousins).
I have a complete list of GRO (England & Wales) Indexes of Births/Marriages and Deaths between 1837 & 1940 and Civil Probate between 1858 and 1950 and am gradually collecting other relevant information as time permits. I try to link individuals into families but do not always succeed.
My One Name Studies are very much part time hobby as I work full time and also have children.
If anyone(or I do on their behalf) can identify events in England or Wales which connect into their family I will obtain the certificate at the current cost price of UKP6.50 plus postage or in exchange for further information from them.
Others can help me by letting me know of any references they come across to Lakeman particularly outside the UK or if they have any certificates if they could let me have the information. Any assistance is gratefully received and I do my best to help anyone who contact me. If I come accross information/documents which links into a particular family I will let that particular person know.
