Volume I - A SWAINSTON FAMILY HISTORY

This book contains an illustrated history of George Swainston (1824-1893), his children and our Swainston ancestors back to their earliest roots in English history.  (This volume will consist of about 545 pages and about 600 photos.)

Chapter 1 reviews Swainston places and roots in British history, the origin of the Swainston name, and a 250-year history of our Swainston ancestral line in County Durham , England.

Chapter 2 presents a history of our Swainston’s in Hertfordshire extending from 1800 to 1882.  It includes photographs and descriptions of where they lived, worked, worshiped and raised their large families.  Thirty years of Swainston baptisms into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hertfordshire and the emigration of the family from England to America are documented.

Chapter 3 settles our Swainston family in America and ends with the death of George and Mary near the turn of the century.

Chapters 4-11 present individual histories of eight of George and Mary Swainston’s children (Albert, Ebenezer, Agnes, Heber, George Jr., Sarah, Mary Ann and Henry) and their families.

Volume II - DESCENDANTS OF HEBER SWAINSTON

This book contains a history of the descendants of Heber and Rosa Lane Swainston extending from 2002 back to 1883.  The book will contain about 580 pages and about 650 photographs.

Chapter 1 contains an abbreviated history of Heber and Rosa Lane Swainston (the detailed history is Chapter 7 of A Swainston Family History).

Chapters 2 -10 contain histories of the nine children of Heber and Rosa.  These chapters are of varying length and present the histories of William, Agnes Rosa, Heber Charles, Jennie, Ethel, Theron, Harold, Sophia and LeRay and their families.

The long awaited Histories are now complete!

Spanning nearly five centuries, some eras required relentless digging, while others entailed disciplined condensation. Twenty years ago, such a project would have been totally impractical, and twenty years hence much of it would have been totally lost! A labor of love, with many 1000’s of hours of inspired dedicated work has made this treasure a reality. Having just spent a day in the mountains going through the manuscripts, I’m amazed by the professional quality, the exhaustive efforts and just the fascinating historical material. Greatness isn’t just the outstanding accomplishments of a fleeting generation or two, but more a solid heritage of strength and stability. I’m convinced that putting the history of this heritage into the hands of the new generation can be an influence for good. Consider supplying that generation when you order!
