Phillip John Swanger was born August 17, 1951 in Cincinnati,
Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Phillip Frazier and Kathryn
Costello Swanger. He married Laura Elise Monk in
Titusville, Brevard, Florida in 1975. John and Elise ended their marriage in 1979. She died in an automobile accident in 1983. He was working in St. Louis, Missouri when on December 8, 1997 he collapsed on the job and could not be revived.
John started school at Holy Infant Elementary School in Ballwin, Missouri. He attended schools in Jacksonville and Titusville, Florida. He was a member of the "Class of 1969" at Titusville High School and attended Brevard Community College. He was still a resident of Titusville, Brevard, Florida at the time of his death. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry. In 1996, he received his pin for 25 years of membership in that organization (giving father and son a combined 80 years).
Besides being a devoted father to daughter, Heather Dawn Swanger, John enjoyed fishing, golf and genealogy. He is remembered for his ever present wry humor. He was a patient and loving father, son and brother, traits that served him well in all of his hobbies. His work in uncovering much of the information contained in these pages can not be overlooked. A high point came in October, 1997 when he attended the Schwanger Family Gathering held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and visited the site of the Moravian Church in Heidelburg Twp., Berks, PA where Johannes Schwanger was baptized in 1795 and where his brother, Philip Schwanger was buried in God's Acre in 1794.
